The Park Gets a Face-Lift
On Sunday, August 16th, we hosted our inaugural Park Improvement Day in Hirshorn Park – located at 17th & Tejon St. in the heart of LoHi. The City and County of Denver’s Parks & Recreation Department was thrilled to provide us the tools while we provided the people – with over 20 volunteers showing up to make a visible difference in our community (wearing masks and socially distancing of course).
Our volunteers got to work, and after just 2 hours of painting playground equipment, sweeping mulch and debris, and picking up trash, the park looked good as new. The city even let us paint the structures with Underdog team spirit 💙 💛 ! After some hard work in the summer heat, the team cooled down and celebrated with pizza, refreshments, and good vibes.
We are so excited to continue working with the City’s Parks & Rec department on more Park Improvement initiatives in the future.

Denver’s Adopt-A-Park Program
While we were ecstatic to be a part of one of the largest park projects this year, the restrictions due to COVID-19 have unfortunately meant that the city has lost thousands of volunteers in 2020. Did you know you can adopt your very own park in the City of Denver? Hirshorn Park itself was adopted by one of own members in 2019. Regular upkeep typically involves sweeping, cleaning up debris, picking up litter, planting flowers, and painting.
Visit the Parks and Rec’s website to learn how to apply today.
